    Hi everyone,

I have posted a few things here, and have always gotten amazing and helpful responses. I keep meaning to formally introduce my self (and my lovely, charming and super talented partner and wife, Abby).

We both work in the arts, her for a not-for-profit charity, myself in the trenches of film production. Despite my official job title, what I really am is a "finder" and "fixer", tracking down unique items for set dressing, and searching out rights holders and obtaining legal permissions.

In the last few years we have been putting our knowledge, wide ranging list of contacts, and access to private databases to work for people outside the film business. If you have the time and the money —and what you want is legal— we will find it for you. Seriously! From over-nighting 150 pair of glass eyeballs, to sourcing antique elevator door assemblies with working motor (in this case to match an existing one, for in studio re-shoots), to finding a new forever home for an adult python, to finding the next of kin of an obscure calendar artist; no challenge is too big, or too small.

My wife and I also provide rental props to the film business, and what we don't or can't rent, we make available in our Etsy shop under the name Public Domain Antiques.

I also want to thank everyone on this forum for all the amazing assistance they have already provided.

Unfortunately I can not keep up with all the postings here, but if you ever need our help, please don't hesitate to contact us here or through our shop.

    With every best wish,

JC & Abby @ Public Domain Antiques and Props.

Welcome, JC and Abby! Always better late than never, eh?

Sounds like a fascinating and fun business to be in!

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Hola, and welcome to the Forums! I had speculated a bit about your vocation/avocations, based on your name and posts... now it all fits.

Okay, I would for you please to find Antonio Banderas for me, and bring him to a to-be-disclosed location. You can tie him up but don't hurt him. And then... oh wait, you said "legal"... nevermind.

Like any other job, it has it's ups and downs, but I wouldn't want to do anything else.

It's different everyday, and I get to meet a lot of amazing people.

    Hahahaha!

I don't know about bringing you Antonio, but I could probably put you in touch with his agent. A paid appearance might be a good ruse to put you plan in action. Please, just don't mention my name!

    Thank you Johnny!

We work hard to find a range of interesting and unique things, because ordinary things are... well... ordinary.

Remember, if there is something that you just need to have, we will find it. With the US to Canadian conversion, our fees are probably quite reasonable.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

There are actually people who do that. I worked on a film (that I will not name, but there maybe enough clues available in my posts and etsy shop to lead you to the answer) where we did a scene revolving around Cinnabon.

Cinnabon sent two gentlemen from HQ (and an obscene amount of product) who supervised the set up an airport kiosk operation to make sure it was authentic.

Other brands I have worked with have done the same.

We should talk privately. I am doing some research on an artist who was based in MTL for a while in the 30s.

Also if you have permission from the artists, or they have been dead for 100 years, I might be able to help you out with more of that.

Send me a DM and I will send my email.

Interesting! I am first nations anishinabek.

Either way, given my line of work I am always interested in meeting Canadian art collectors and dealers. Dealing with art work is a big part of my day job.

    Hi,
I used to rent stuff to movie studios but about 20 years ago they started to buy the stuff since so much of it broke or disappeared. My last bunch was all the Fiestaware used in the movie about Ralphie and shooting his eye out with a BB gun. I miss all of that since I am retired from everything.
