Featured Beautiful but sickly vintage necklace

I have this gorgeous (in my humble opinion) vintage necklace with issues. It came in a lot I purchased sometime ago. I have no clue where it was made or when. Each pearl bead strand is a different color, one beige, one gray. My question is whether or not it can be healed. I do not have the confidence or the experience to cure a sick piece so I thought if there is someone here who could remedy its problems, I would happily post it in the Give Away forum and even pay the postage for it to be brought back to its glory. Or should I just trash it?

JMHO, there is nothing you can to do to clean it, putting vinegar or ketchup on the greenies will destroy the coating on the pearl right next to it. The best thing to do would be to take it apart, toss out any of the old findings that are green and restring with new findings. Are you game for that?

Very pretty, but has the verdigris greenies.... which are hard to do away with on a genuine or faux pearl necklace. I think the pearls could be restrung, and you could soak the clasp elements in vinegar, but they may discolor anyway. I agree with Marie, use new old stock findings.

It's a shame but your opinions are pretty much what I thought. Too bad. I doubt if I would restring it that's why I thought someone here might want it to re-do it and add to their hoard, I mean collection.

The day is young... (at least where I live). I'll bet there may be someone here up to the task!

The pendant part looks mostly good, I think it is just the connector points that have verdigris in that part, and the rest would be resolved by restringing and finding a vintage clasp for a double strand and extender.

It sort of reminds me of a bit of a Miriam Haskell necklace with that seed pearl and rhinestone centerpiece. A little bit of work and attention went into this, even the tiny seed pearls on the centerpiece are beige and gray if I'm seeing the photo correctly. The clasp doesn't look like Haskell though, so more likely "in the style of".

I wonder if @Joan might have thoughts? I think Joan knows Haskell a bit.

Agree it is a lovely necklace! Definitely worth doing something. (Don't toss!)

Thanks. I could just take it apart, get rid of the ruined findings and send everything else, if someone wants it. The pendant is gorgeous, the seed pearls and rhinestones are wrapped around a citron colored faceted glass piece. The picture doesn't do it justice. I'll wait awhile before I do anything.

You can post it as a giveaway in the marketplace section. Sometimes multiple people want an item, sometimes only 1 & then again sometimes there are no takers. :p

Look at some of the other posts to see how it works.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought I would do. I just thought I'd run it through here first to make sure it shouldn't just be thrown out.

Evelyb30 does restringing....she may like to have them.

Tomorrow I will post it in the Give Away Forum when I get home from work. I appreciate everyone's input.

I agree, those findings are goners. Once they get greenies the coating is gone underneath. Someone would love to restring those no doubt, and I could but maybe someone else wants them. I hope someone else wants them.:p

I agree with Lucille that it's in the style of Miriam Haskell. Too bad about the verdigris. The center element also appears to be missing some smaller pieces on one side that would have covered the jump rings like on the other side. I've seen similar listed on eBay as "Unsigned Miriam Haskell," but they're not. One sold recently for $44.95. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2245040278...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
