    Hi,
Trying to figure this basket out. the little pieces decorating this that I thought were shell are really plastic, the nuts or seeds are real. it is 7"H
Any idea where this would have been made?
    Any information appreciated.

I am vaguely reminded of some sort of pod that used to wash up on the beaches of the Gulf coast of Florida about a millennia ago, but "nature" is not now, nor ever has been an interest of mine, so............................

no - they feel like plastic but looking at one with a loupe, maybe a seed pod like AJ suggested. here is a photo of where the holes are for the string, looks like fibre. DSC01105.jpg

Those bugs are actually quite pretty. My cat would love chasing them and playing them to death. Not sure I'd want one on my hat....

Not that I know much about baskets, but the combination of an Australian/Australasian beetle with that loose weave, makes me think New Guinea. That could be Papua New Guinea (PNG state) or Irian Jaya, the Indonesian half of the island. Or maybe even surrounding islands, like all those places with 'New' in the name, New Ireland, etc.
