I purchased a dresser and I am trying to find out more about it, including what it may be worth. It could use some refinishing but I don’t want to do anything without more info. On the history.
In the top drawer it is stamps “Bald Knob, Thorocraft”
I found the Bald Knob Furniture co. In Rocky Mt., VA. That did business from 1903-1955 when Lane purchased their company and plant. the woman I bought this from said it was her grandmother’s which would, given her perceived age, have made this an earlier piece, 1903-1913.
I cannot find ANY pieces of Bald Knob on the web.
Any info is appreciated, apologies for the photos, they are all I have at this point.

Looks to me like 1930s "waterfall" type dresser, wait for others to post as this is out of my area of interest.

    Correct.
It's veneered, so you want to be careful with what you use.
From the one picture, looks like it is just scratched up from years of use. Any other problems?

Based solely on your one picture.
Personally, I would use Howard's Restor-A-Finish, then their Feed N Wax. Probably all you need to do to it.

Yes, 1930s, not earlier. Howard's will indeed give it new life. In my part of the U.S. midwest this dresser might get $30-$50 at auction. Hard to believe that it would be as cheap or cheaper than Ikea with all that handsome veneer.

30s for so for sure. Those drawer pulls, if sold off separately, could be worth more than the complete chest.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It would depend on her grandmother's life span. She could have bought it shortly before her passing, for all we know. The people who have commented here are very knowledgeable so you can believe them about the age.
