Could someone help shed some light on this artist. I am pretty sure he is not a made-up name.
One bio says Korean American, another says 1949 USA born.
Or he could be a created name but there is a lot of his work out there and asking prices are not cheap. But nothing selling either.
My painting is 12" x 16" not including the frame.
Any help appreciated. I forked out a whole $12.00 lol

The depiction sure is reminiscent of Asian work. Very nice!

It is a bit confusing - the notations from the insurance rider listed M.P. Elliot as British although I always thought the artist was working under a pen name or pseudonym and likely Chinese. I found some works that were dated back to the 60's which then the 'British' attribution would not be correct. We just decided to leave it as it was noted in the paperwork.

This is from another painting on liveauctioneers
    Description
MARK PAUL ELLIOTT Oil on Canvas Bald Eagle, signature to lower left reads ‘M. P. ELLIOTT’, subject a bald Eagle soaring over a landscape, frame measures 29 1/2 x 25 1/2 inches, mid toned stained wooden frame, surface wear to frame, professionally framed, exposed canvas to reverse, not examined out of frame. Mark Paul Elliott is an artist originally from North Manchester. He has also lived and worked in former mill towns such as Rochdale, Bolton and Oldham. Mark was a budding artist from an early age but it wasn’t until he moved to Lincolnshire that he became intrigued with art and artists that had originated from his Northern roots. During the next few years, Mark researched and documented much of Manchester and Lancashire’s history through old photographs, books and film. It was during this time that Mark became an avid follower of the Northern Art scene. (The Wellington Gallery

Just a quick internet browse but... There appears to be two M. P. Elliotts. One is a British. The other appears to be the nom de brosse of a decorative painter(s) working in México (as many of the frames of his work are marked.)
