Bakelite Pot

    I am not certain if this it an antique yet. I believe it is made out of bakelite. It resembles amber but has a strong plastic scent when rubbed.
    Any information would be appreciated.

    Do you mean smells of formaldehyde when run under hot water? You can also do the baking soda on a Q tip test to determine bakelite.

    I have just rubbed it with a damp cotton swab with baking soda...it left a dirty orange mark on the swab.

    You don't give any dimensions, but compared to the hand in the photos, I think it could be a match holder
