    Hi everyone,
I have been visiting my parents recently, who bought old house in the countryside, and I found some old chairs. The one I am posting looks badly damaged (there is another one, piled under a lot of things). It seems that one leg would need replacing and I am not sure how the sitting part could be fixed.
So I wanted to ask your opinion on whether you think it is worth fixing?
The sitting part of the chair is 40x40 cm, height of the char is 80 cm (forgot to measure from ground to sitting part, let me know if it is important).

    I'm with the others.:(
Good that you asked though. Treasures can still be found, occasionally.

Not worth it, sadly. I like the pot plant idea.

Not worth it unless you love it. Then.....kick out the jams!

I think because of the bentwood stretcher I'm getting a Thonet vibe from this chair. They made lightweight beechwood chairs for many decades, headquartered in Austria. Many of their chairs would up in commercial settings, especially restaurants and the like.

Many copies were made too, so Thonet attribution without a stamp is near impossible.

Thank you all for insights and advice. It was interesting to found out the age of this chair and imagine what it could have seen through its time. If there was a stamp on it, it is long gone. It seems that this chair has been badly treated during last years it was used and then in sat in the barn with all kind of insects and rodents.

Thank you for the pot idea!

Thonet stamps were impressed into the wood, so they wouldn't wear off. Unfortunately they used labels as well, many of which fell off or wore away over time. But given the fact that most of these chairs are not by Thonet, I would guess this is not a Thonet.

Well, my words were "getting a Thonet vibe," not :"this is a Thonet chair." Although at this point, considering the antique furniture market, it hardly matters whether it is or not. Value is minimal unless the love is there.
