    Hi,
I have been going through one of many bags of utensils to itemize them. That is why 97 is tagged on this item. I think its made of iron with the rust that is on it. I thought this might be a baby jar lid closer but I am not really sure. It measures 5 3/4" x 1 1/4" at the end of the hooks or 5/16" at the spring x 1/4" height at the spring. Thank you for your help in recognition of this item. Rob

Sort of reminds me of hardware to hold seat covers on an old car or truck?

I think Michael's idea sounds more possible than any function to do with baby jars (baby food jars?) whether opening or closing. There may be other possibilities than securing car or truck seat covers, but it's a place to start.

Have you used a magnet to see if it is iron.

Nothing to do with baby food jars IMHO.
