    Hi everyone,

I was offered this piece of marble, signed ’Aug Moreau'.

I’ve physically examined it, it’s really marble, and the signature looks authentic.

However, I’m confused by the inscription ’1078' that appears next to the signature, I don’t know what it means.

Any help will be grateful and welcome.

    Best wishes!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Could that be a 'roughly' inscribed 1878???? A Very Cute Cupid!!

what does the bottom look like. I have seen some really nice looking pieces that were composed of "cold cast" marble. They are heavy as the genuine item.

All the air bubbles on the base worry me, usually these appear on castings.

See if you can see any more of these pits or small bubbles in crevices.

"1078" might be a serial number... the "0" looks different from the "8".
