I get so frustrated with carved figures.. I am guessing at least two are probably touristy stuff but I am not really sure. Thank you !

First one has 3 men in one carving. 18" tall.

    This one is 16"

Then there are these two. Each 15"

Well........the 3 guys look like their made from ironwood.....possibly a different hardwood.
The 2nd now is looking more Indonesian ...than African......sorry i looked fast cuz it's a modern piece.....& I can't really be certain where it's from.
    ( I'm a little weary at present)

The last 2 with the hats...sitting on stools...could be folks of a higher rank....maybe chiefs.....
u could start there........but wait to see if others can give u more to go on !!

There is something wrong with the first one.
All the feet face the same direction, but not their heads.
    From the same picture #2.

artistic license??? I will have to look and make sure the heads are attached properly or if perhaps one was damaged and repaired wrong. LOL

They would have to have been repaired at the waist, because their shoulders face the same way as their heads.

actually if you look at it in person you can see that his feet face foward but he is looking back over his shoulder. Hard to tell in the photos.

I must be getting old. I can get half way around (90 degrees), and not very comfortably. The one in the back a full 180, I never could have done.

I'll try to get a better picture tomorrow in the daylight so you can see what I mean.

    Hi Pat -
Don't do that on my account.
I was just trying to be funny about not being as limber as I used to be. About how I would not be able to pull off the way you say the men are standing.
