    Greetings,
My name is Martin, and I started up reselling / ecommerce about 8 months ago. I'm doing a lot of estate sales and good will hunts, and I'm trying to learn the art of antiquing as there seems to be less knowledge and competition among older fancier things, and i abhor the rat race rush for star wars and GI Joes, although that certainly won't stop me from grabbing them anyway.

Recently acquired a large portion of my deceased Grandmothers entire antique collection as I'm the family "antique" guy now, and I'm going to need a fair bit of help identifying / evaluating a lot of this stuff, so I thought I'd stop in and register here as the community seems rather vibrant compared to a lot of other antique websites I've seen.

Anyways, looking forward to the never-ending academia of antiques, see you all around.
    Martin

Welcome! Knowledge is everything in antiques. Grab those reference books and study up. It is usually best to develop a few niches where you are knowledgeable rather than try to focus on all categories which is very overwhelming. I personally have been collecting for about 15 years and still feel like a novice a considerable amount of the time compared to some of the older antique dealers I see at estate auctions who seem to know what everything is and how much it is worth.

Welcome fellow junque junkie! The more I learn, the more i know I don't have much of a clue. It's best to gather a smattering of information about anything and everything and specialize in a few bits here and there.
