Maybe if we can find the mark we’ll know more.

You might find a similar set of characters here. http://www.925-1000.com/Fkorea_01.html

Out of curiosity, that is the year in that engraved date? I can't tell if it's 1953 or 1853.

BTW, that kind of tarnish always says "silverplated" to me, but that impression may not apply to foreign goods.

I know, purlpe most of the time means silver plated but I’ve had Asian and other foreign solid silver that would tarnish that was.
Not sure of the year, I also debate between 19 and 18.
Maybe if we can find who that Captain A?ison was?
Also, the type of engraving method?

I agree, ca. 800 silver can have colour tarnish as well.
    I assumed 1953, Korean war.
    Captain Alson?

Not only 800, higher than 925 also. There’s too much space between the A and the rest. Maybe another letter there.

Funny, just found the same link a minute ago.
    I think it’s him.

He was transferred to Civil Assistance in the 2nd Division, where he took an active role in the formation of the "Friendship Home," an orphanage for Korean children. On July 31, 1953 he was promoted to Captain and returned home from Korea in September.

That’s where the gift is from “Friendship Home”

The marking of the tea pot was written in Chinese.
The chinese words should be read from right to left side(which is the way of handwriting in&before republic period), "纯银" - pure silver or solid silver, which indicates the bowl is 925 or higher. It is always made for domestic use by native silversmith.
The tea pot could be older than the english words. The english words are carved much later. Marking "S8249S" could be even later than the english words.
