Can't tell for sure what are these. I suspect recent and cheap stone ( at one point I thought they could be pottery?) that was somehow chemically browned. Usually the Asian makers like to do such things to fake age and here probably mimic stone carving?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Glazed pottery rather than stone. Quite nice beads.

Dzi design beads, but the real ones are stone and the old ones are $$$$. These are recent pottery.

Will try to take better photos at day light but they appear to be somewhat transuclent. I guess they still can be pottery.

Could be; it's hard to tell sometimes from a photo. Those ones in the auction...somebody overpaid.:jawdrop: I've had beads that I knew were agate and not old, and they didn't sell for anything like that.

I think the big beads are hollow plastic resin.

Whata ya think of that !:wacky:

The beads get cold ( not super cold) at room temperature. If resin can do that, then they are resin.
Now, how about something that will prove that they are not agate?

    This one has similar texture

bead.jpg Those pot marks on the edge r where I'm having a problem. I see that on castings all the time.
That said......I can't say what there are for sure .....:(

There are small nicks and chips, crackles etc all over. I know what you mean about those pinholes seen on resin. I don't think that is the case here. Plus resin is not cold. When I knock a bead to my teeth it sounds like glass not a dull sound.
Anyway, I may try to seek an expert opinion.
