Asian Chinese? jar with Scholars design

    This jar is not marked & is 4 3/4" to the top of the lid. The design is finely done & is hand painted.

    Any guesses on age, original use or region that originated from?

    Japanese, probably Kutani.

    I was surprised to see that it wasn't marked when I turned it over Friday night at the auction.
