When I go to an auction, I usually preview the day before and write down all the stuff I want to get. I'll go home and research prices, etc.. As is usually the case, I *always* find something tucked away in a box lot that I missed the day before. This hand made copper candle holder by J.F. Hewes was buried under a pile of newer copper trinkets. I thought I found my ticket to retirement with this little beauty. Much to my amazement, I can only find very limited information on Hewes and very little internet sales with nothing sold on eBay.

Am I missing something here? Do people only collect Roycroft, Stickley and Van Erp copper? I think this is a great looking Arts & Crafts item. It should be worth millions...or at least more than the $3 I paid for it. Whatcha think? candle1.jpg candle5.jpg candle4.jpg candle3.jpg candle2.jpg

With those rivets at the top, I would guess it's missing something.

There is a market for some of the more obscure metalwork but things are not as readily sold as they were a few years ago. I agree that something is missing from this ..... shame :(
