Can anyone help identify this chair? I think it could have had some kind of decal plate in the middle of the circle as pictured below $_57 - 2021-08-22T203336.567.jpg $_57 - 2021-08-22T203359.262.jpg $_57 - 2021-08-22T203429.895.jpg $_57 - 2021-08-22T203413.823.jpg

Gorgeous! Looks kind of like a design by the radical chair genius George Hunzinger of New York. Are there any marks indicating a maker? I don't think Hunzinger ever used rush seating, though. Likely 1880s.-90s

It's an interesting chair, but I'll be surprised if it turns out to be William Morris. I'm guessing that the ebonized wood could put it back to that period.

I can't see any marks but there's two brass pins in the sun circle thing as though there was once a label on there, probabl not much help anyway sorry

I dont know how the rush seat is made or how hard it is to do but there are some nail marks in the wood around the edge of the seat maybe something else was use originally perhaps

No decals on Morris and Co, much less on the front. What's missing there is some kind of decoration. The time and style do match but it's hard to tell. Worth having the rush redone anyway.

A maker's label would never have gone on the prominent face. More likely an aesthetic movement design, perhaps a japonisme mixed-metal or tile.
