I have not found a comparable in 40 years of ownership.

It is unmarked. I think this breaks the guideline that all good stuff is marked.

    overall is 11" high x 13" wide
    bowl is 10" diameter
    foot is 6.25" diameter

Has anyone seen this or similar?

    Thanks,
    James.

i think the guideline is more...that good makers 'marked ' their stuff....

    still.......it's lovely .....but I doubt it's OOAK...!

kokomo, I'm sure it's not one of a kind. :).

moreotherstuff, yes, when I first bought this I took it apart to straighten a slight bend and then added the felt.

Beautiful. The feet are very interesting! Years ago my grandmother gave me a relatively cheap factory made plate stand with similar feet, five toes or so. Hope you find the maker!

Figured as much - the felt doesn't look so terribly old - but had to ask.

Well it is a beauty, German IMO, has a sort of WMF-Y feel, but no matter if unmarked ...I have a pair of early Hagenauer bookends that aren't marked either and my favourite things to buy are unsigned paintings!;)

The quality looks good on the cast parts. Maybe @Fid has some insight.

It is beautiful, and another vote for German, with those strong lines. Love the little head on the base.

My first impression is German / Austrian, as opposed to French. But, I'm not well versed in what other countries produced stylistically.

I learned a new word today too ...

A tazza (Italian, "cup", plural tazze) is a wide but shallow saucer-like dish either mounted on a stem and foot or on a foot alone. The word has been generally adopted by archaeologists and connoisseurs for this type of vessel, used either for drinking, serving small items of food, or just for display.
