Hello everyone! I'm trying to figure out what this bowl might have been used for. It measures 9 1/2" long and 3 1/4" high. The insert measures 5 1/4" long and 1 3/8" high. I'm assuming it dates around 1900 or so. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

A small jardiniere -a planter / vase. Not very distinct art nouveau but I can see the influence.

Thanks, bluemoon! That was my first though but I started to doubt myself because the interior was only 1 3/8".
