    Cantacted Schmidt-Messenger Studios. The answer is:
    "Yes it is a Jack Schmidt. He says it was made at the Glass Crafts Building at the Toledo Museum of Art when the building was brand new. The color is a copper red made by Fritz Dreisbach and Jack"

    Cool. The Glass Crafts Building was built in '69, so the '70 date makes sense for the attribution.
