    The shade fits nicely in the rim not shown. Sorry quick photos at location. Any ideas of maker and age? Thanks DSC_0346.JPG DSC_0347.JPG

    I agree. The past owner said the two have been together since the 1950s. The shade holder "rim" works perfectly, maybe that part is original.

    Agree with the others that the base does not really go with the shade. The fitter ring either went with the shade originally or was purchased to make them work together. Have you got a pic of the sockets?

    Edited...yet again.

    I just did a quick search for Loetz lamps. I found an oil lamp with a similar base. The base could very well be a marriage to make that shade fit.

    Don't suppose there is any chance the shade is signed is there? I can't imagine it with that base either.

    Thanks everyone. I have the lamp on "hold". I will go back today. I did a quick look for a signature and found nothing. I am considering selling just the shade unless the base is original.

    I cross posted this to another Glass board. I have one reply so far (I was asking if it was Loetz)

    I have seen these shades with a contemporary type base before so I am not certain these are all that old. I do know that the shades themselves with the 10" bottom diameter that fits the ring holder bring pretty decent money & suspect people are pairing them up with older bases.

    The base is not "new" and very good quality with older parts. Going over in few minutes to look at it again.

    @trip98

    Did you end up grabbing this lamp? Another Glass guy would like to see more pics of the shade.

    Finally, got around to taking more photos. The base stands about 20" without the shade. Shade at widest is approx 13 1/2" across. Interior rim to rim about 12 1/2". Should I keep the set together if not original? DSC_1068.JPG DSC_1060.JPG DSC_1060.JPG DSC_1054.JPG

    I guess I would keep them together. The lamp appears to be old and whoever buys this, even if for the shade, may need some of the other parts or have use for the lamp. Otherwise, someone might appreciate the entire package. It never hurts to have bidders coming from different directions to help your bottom line.
