Featured Art glass bowl

I bought this today. I'm not sure if it is Murano or not and do struggle to differentiate it from all the imitation stuff out there. It appears to be made from two layers of swirl effect glass with gold fleck in the spots. It has a nice polished base but also some bubbles present in the glass so not sure of quality. It's quite large at 22cm diameter and weighs a fare bit.

 

Pretty but Im guessing newish Chinese.

 

Modern Asian, agreed. There’s some very nice stuff coming from there. Those vivid colours are typical.

 

Okay thanks. At least they made an effort with this one and it is actually blown glass. I've seen some awful ones with painted on swirls or plastic wrap.

 

yes - they are producing some scary good reproduction type wares - typically the give away is the bottom is frosted looking - that's normally not how the old good stuff was done -

They’re also fire polishing bases now. I’d not call it reproduction, it’s simply modern glass.
