    Hello!

Does anyone recognise the design of these chairs and/or the era they are from?

There are no marker's marks but they are solid and definitely old (except for the fabric which has been replaced at some point).

Even to know if there's a special name for the style of chair would be very helpful.

Found in a shop in Scotland if that's helps!

    Many thanks :)

Lucy, I've taken the liberty of reposting your photograph as Full Image so it's easier for all to see. (You'll want to make sure to do that in the future.)

Feel like the era of Rennie Mackintosh, but not his design.

Thanks for your reply. Is it the general style of the era that gives you that impression or have you seen anything similar to these chairs?

Agreed, is just the general style. If @LucySurly would like to post some detail photos, closeups and the bottom details, perhaps we can learn more.

The Art Deco surface decoration provides direction as to age. Similar in feeling to these 1930 Clarice Cliff pieces. As Antidiem points out above, additional photographs would be helpful.

I'm in the UK. That carving is absolutely typical of late Art Deco styles here, as is the wood. Whilst furniture design was very restricted in wartime, some pre war styles went on once it got going again properly in the late 40s.Oak frame, plywood back, probably the orginal seat was leather.
