I'd be very grateful to know the estimated age of this Asian Sake bottle.

I've discovered from another source that the bottle is possibly Arita porcelain from Japan (or even of Korean origin). The nearest similar examples I have seen on the net seem to be dated from the 18th century, although such comparisons are likely to be a bit hit-and- miss, if you see what I mean.
I've attached pics of the lip and the base, which might be useful in making a more informed decision.

    Thank you !

    Very nice bottle!
About a liter? Where found, an' when? Interior fully glazed?

A private online purchase (Europe), c.18 months ago. It stands c.26cm high. The interior glaze appears to 'fade out' about 3cm into the neck - but not 100% sure as the interior neck surface is slightly rippled, which may cause a slight shadow.

PS I've just inserted a thin (5mm dia) stick to test the inside surface. Definitely unglazed !

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Would there have been a stopper for this bottle, originally?

Presumably a cork. On the net, many new sake bottles offered for sale have a cork stopper.

After spending a few hours trawling the net, the closest example I've found is this 'Japanese Arita Pear-Shaped Bottle Vase', dating from the late 17th century (crikey!), according to the website. The shape, the lip, and the base of both examples all seem to be fairly similar - at least in my view.
So I think I'll have to guess at late 17th or maybe 18th century to be on the safe side - unless someone thinks otherwise.

In any event, thank you all most kindly for your comments and contributions.

I never could see your vase being a sake bottle, and am much happier with it being called a very beautiful Arita vase.:)

I think it could well be a sake vessel, AJ. I'll see what I can find to support my belief.
