Marble rather than any kind of pottery.

I'm worried it might be resin

They look cast to me, although reproductions in cast marble can still cost a few pennies. I'd steer clear, but don't know the nature of your interest in them.

    Both for 150 Australian dollars.
I just thought they might be an interesting thing to have but I'm not interested in buying them if I pay more than what they are worth

I don't think you could buy them for any less new, retail. The one being broken takes away monetarily, if not so much aesthetically. (Looks well mended.)

As long as you're not looking at them for immediate resale, I would see if I could get a little off in consideration of the damage, but if they really appeal to you & the price is not a stretch, may as well have them.

Do you have any idea when these would have been made?

I'd think cast marble - base is wrong for resin. Still some age to them. Pay what you think they're worth as something you like. I'd haggle, but I do that.

Aw I like them! Grinam Niam? Depending on detailing that might be a bit much to spend, but those busts do have a steady market, particularly women and children. I have a resin copy of the head of Louise Brongniart which I bought for £20, two house guests have since tried to buy her off me since because she’s beautiful with a lot of presence. I think you’d make some profit depending where you sold, but not much. For yourself, at £50 each I can readily admit I’ve paid more for reproductions that I wanted for my house.
