Hi all! Happy new year, its been a while.

I'm looking at this bedspread/rug for sale but I have no knowledge of such things so I thought I'd bring it to you to see if you could shed some light on it. Its advertised as a vintage 'arabesque' bedspread. It looks more like a rug of some kind since its tasselled on all four sides. The embellishments are woven onto a white canvas rather then being completely woven. I love it but I want to make sure I'm not buying a cheaply made 80s or 90s items rather then a truly vintage piece as its quite expensive. Is it possible to tell authenticity/age from these photos? Thank you!

    Hi Rachel,
I had one years. It had a small wooden disc attached saying made in Egypt. They do not last if you have fur babies. So mine went to a yard sale.

Thank you greg for your reply! Fortunately the fur baby we have is not allowed upstairs so no issues there. Am I correct in that its a rug? Thats what the fringe would suggest but its got a rather impractical weave for such a use.

    I'd call it a throw.

Ah yes that would make sense! It would be interesting to know if has/had a disc like Greg's had.

Egypt. And could well be 1980s-1990s. Table covers I've always thought.

Thanks Debora, that's what I had suspected. Unfortunately I can't afford it anymore as my job only has a few weeks left, but it is lovely. Thank you for all the help everyone!
