Anyone seen brass trays like these?

Got two unusual brass trays that I'm curious about. One is a square tray cast in one piece 22.5cm x 10.5cm x 5.5cm high and 600gms. The other is a small round tray 14.5cm x 18.5cm x 3cm high 135gms with small ball feet with blind holes in them. Looks like something is missing but don't know what it is.
Any ideas??

Don't know but I would really soak and scrape the old brass polish left all over that round tray.

The square one looks like a desk accessory , letters went into the slot thing .

 

The holes in the feet on the round one make me wonder if this somehow fit in to a stand to make a tazza.

 

These little containers were with the tray. I'm thinking powders/ceremonial/Indian?
They might be a red herring and the tray was simply a useful container. I love the tray though. It's so primitive and to cast it all in one piece is nuts.

 

I vote for red herring, Miscstuff. Being round in a right-angled container would not work well.
