Anyone seen a vase like this before?

Hi there

My mum left me this vase before she passed away around 10 years ago. I remember she told me to take good care of it, so I've held onto it.... but it has remained in a cupboard collecting dust.

I only know 3 bits of info about it.

1. It's been in the family for at least 100 years.
2. My family are from Egypt and it came to Australia with my mother.
3. It has no markings or stamps on it that I can see.

I've browsed online using a variety of key words but haven't found anything similar.

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

I can't help, but wait for others...........

 

I don't know pottery, but is that a metal plug in the bottom? If it is, perhaps this is a lamp base that was converted. A metal plug wouldn't go well with water sitting in it. Just my thought.

 

I just checked. No metal plug. Looks like terracotta under the glaze/paint.

 

Id guess Italian. Very pretty.
