    Hello,

I picked up these earrings in a bag with some other ones and I noticed they had a makers mark on them which seems to be a letter L but I can't figure out who that belongs to, has anyone seen this before and can help? TIA :)

Whitman's, or maybe it was Stouffers, used to make a candy that looked just like those earrings! Chocolate on the outside, raspberry icing within. :)

The designers do like to make it difficult for us don’t they!
Are they pewter? If so that could narrow it down.

@silverbell I can confirm they are definitely not made from candy.....my poor teeth when I tried to eat them there to check them out confirms this! :playful:

@KSW I don't think they are pewter, more like a metal coated I think, not sure you can call it japanned as they are grey and not black but probably just some kind of coating. Definitely difficult on this one, not seen it before.

Thanks @Debora had a quick look at one of the links and it seems it is neither a distilled spirit or a washer logo (closer to that one though!), will have another look later this evening. I am UK based though so it may be from here.....or not, nothing is a given in this treasure hunt!

Ah, UK-based. Then my links wouldn't be helpful unless designer exported to US.

@Eils 14 Forget the 'L' and look at all the other writing on the RH earing: Numbers on the clip 50RG [maybe 6 for G]; two lines of writing just below the clip. Cannot read it but a strong loop might do it.

Not very helpful, I know, but IMHO the "L" looks more like a "7".

(Now fighting an earworm from the Wooly Bully song... "Let's not be L7..."

I bet the L goes in the left ear! That's what it usually meant.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I initially thought it was a 7 also.........

That mark on the backer likely “SURG” as in Surgical Steel.

Oh, good thinking. These look wildly eighties.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I hadn't thought of it being a 7 but now you have said this I can totally see how it might actually be a 7! Not sure what makers mark that would be either mind you but I will try seeing if anything pops up with this new search!

It is SURG on the backs, so think you are correct there @JewelryPicker and good to know likely 80s, definitely felt like they weren't a modern pair. :)
