JMK was an Irish artist of the late 1800's/early 1900's. I have questions concerning authenticity of two paintings I possess, the "violinist monk" and the "monk in his study."
Did he paint multiple copies of his paintings?
How do I determine if a painting is an oil retouched canvass print?

JMK was an accomplished Irish genre painter.Places like online 'Nice Art Gallery' and '1st Art Gallery.com' are doing oil on canvas copies of his work (not printed canvas with oil/acrylic touches or gel textures),but hand-painted copies on canvass for $300-$400.
How good the copyist is determines how hard it'll be to detect if this a copy (or 'honest' forgery) and an original.
A professional should be able to detect the age of the stretchers and canvas and crackle in the varnish and wear spots in the canvas. For 5-10K each it's probably worth visiting an expert-just make sure they have a good resume'.
Also-do you have any history/provenance re the pieces ?
