    Hi, Jaslice, and welcome!

    I'm not a knife person, but I can guarantee that those here who ARE are going to want to see the blade!

    My only other input is: that's a really COOL handle!

    Wish I could help, but I'm sure someone else will be along who can.

    S.Garcia Martinez possible original owner or maker,acid etched, "homemade" horse head pommel/handle possibly pewter or aluminum and cow horn inserts,most likely from someplace in South America.

    Welcome to the forum, jaslice.
    Very nice, I agree with acid etched for owner S. Garcia Martinez.
    The hilt looks like a bird to me, a cockatoo or parrot. The rabbit is depicted in the Spanish/Portuguese tradition.
    The leather sheath looks home made, and the designs are stamped.
    I would also say South America, maybe the Philippines if the hilt is a cockatoo. We might be able to say more if we could see the entire knife.

    My beloved Cuban grandmother used to say that all the time ! Sure brought back memories. Interesting piece,I especially like the hound chasing the hare.

    The knife could easily be a Cuban souvenir. Nice thing.

    Hi! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to post comments. So cool to hear the history and stories.

    As I was taking photos I (think) I noticed more detail in the etching and other areas.... but not positive. Mind started playing tricks looking over the metal!
    * Crouching child?
    * Elephants?
    * Tiger?
    * Crack on wood handle
    * Different kinds of wood on each side? Is it even wood?
    * Broken rivet on sheath

    Adding more photos at http:/bit.ly/uniqueknife

    Thanks!

    Are there letters on the rivets of the sheath? Can you take close ups or type if there are?

    add the pis here....many of us will not open links to sites unfamiliar to us.

    Holly's post # 4 , seems for the moment to be an accurate account.
    The blade is known as a clip point.

    It is a Mexican souvenir from the 1960s or so. Sold in the border towns. All hand work.
