Another thing that I know nothing about and there is no writing or maker's mark on it. I guess it's brass or bronze? Doesn't attract a magnet.
Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.

Hi Dave. Unfortunately the details of the design are lost to view in the picture of the front. Perhaps too much flash? or something. Do you have a picture that focuses more on the female in the center and the design around her? There is something to the right of her (from our point of view) that would be good to see better.

I would guess brass and not bronze.

This one that was on Etsy looks similar. Described as 1930s, Dutch brass tray featuring milkmaid and windmill.

    Hi Bakersgma,
Sorry, I struggle with photos. These may be a LITTLE better--I took it outside. I now see the other pic was upside down. The girl has the two pails on the rack over her shoulders, windmill on the right and some sailboats on the left. Otherwise it just looks like scrolling designs and stuff. (from what I can see)

WOW! Looks like I missed the 70 additional photos that were posted!!

    Yup, so she does.

Dutch themed housewares - trays, platters, boxes and other holders - were very popular in the US in the 1920's - but the ones I've seen in brass are a much richer color and most often three-dimensional decoration rather than flat like this one. Without any marks it's tough to say who did it or where.

Yea, sorry about the million photos. As far as the color, the tray was right above the stove at my mom's {and later my brother's house} so it had a lot of smoke discolor it over the years.

Have you tried to clean it?

No I haven't tried. What would you recommend I use to clean it?

Start by soaking in warm soapy water (use Dawn or other grease-cutting dish washing liquid.) Use a soft sponge or cloth to gently agitate - you shouldn't scrub with anything that might scratch the surface. Rinse and air dry. You might need to do this a few times. Let us know if there is any improvement or not.

My sinks aren't big enough to soak the whole thing at once. I did clean it once and did notice some improvement. Don't think I have the stamina to do it multiple times.

How big is it? How much does it weigh?

It weighs 15.2 oz {without the part that lets you hang it on the wall} and the body {excluding the handles} is 14 by 9 1/4.
