    Are these anything important?

They are Postage Due stamps, I cannot see them well enough to figure out if I have the right issue

Looks like they are worth further research. Better pictures would help, and probably reference to the sister stamp collecting site. Top right of page, sometimes. I can't tell the difference between deep claret, carmine rose, light claret and a few other reddish brown colours.

The crucial point with these is the exact colour that is one of the ways to determine the issue. I really cannot tell crimson lake from carmine.

Try the related forum above and if you would, let me know if you do as I would be interested in the answers you get.

I think they may be worth useful money, but I am not a US stamp expert, even though I know a fair bit about stamps in general.

My preference is British Empire issues up to about 1950

Your link shows stamps that say US, mine actually say United States. These might date to the 1930's at least. Thanks for your help.

Makanudo There is no such thing as simple.Simple is hard.

I feel obliged to join in on this unless its gone academic in nature...
Essential in this case would be to measure perforations on all 4 sides.
In order to do that you would need a philatelic "comb"'
Otherwise, your first 2 stamps are useless and worth zero, because they are damaged. Your stamps are used and not new. Top catalogue value 10$ min 1$
