I have this gorgeous oval bowl but can't find another like it to see who made it. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Very nice bowl. Good quality.

    Many companies made patterns similar.

Thanks CC. You'd need big thumbs for this one though. Those dimples are about 4cm across.

Hmm, you're measuring in cm, are you somewhere besides US?
Might make a difference in what companies to look at.

I'm in the UK. Home of fabulous old glass bowls :)

It reminds me of Heisey's Whirlpool pattern but i don't think the bottom on Whirlpool is starred like your example. Nor have I had any luck finding the shape.

I thought it might be Sowerby as they made some similarly glamorous bowls with a similar oval boat shape but I can't find one with this pattern.

Maybe @Ownedbybear could help with this one since it is on her side of the pond.:happy:

I saw that Challinor Taylor one. It looks massive in their pics but it's only around 7" across.
And it's not that because there are too many small differences.

And I don't think it's as old as 1850s-ish. I could be completely wrong but my gut says 1930s. It feels a bit too minimally styled for earlier.

Hmm you may be right about it not being as old as 1850s. I was looking at the clarity of the glass. Not the molding on the bottom of the bowl.

Is the ring on the bottom ground and polished?

It is ground on the base rim. A little nibbled too. Not sure I'd go as far to say it's polished though.

Have you tried the word, "Argus?"

Thanks Rastella. Definitely in the ballpark.
I can't believe this is being so difficult. Surely I can't have the only bowl in the world like this. That would make it super valuable and that doesn't happen in my corner.

Pam is great and has helped me with solves too. Your pattern is also widely known by the AKA 'Moonprint' especially when found in carnival glass.
