ANY INFO ON CARVED WOOD THAI(?) GODS? MYTHS? CHESS PIECES

    I found these at a local thrift store - and I've googled carved Thai chess pieces, but haven't found anything like these!
    They measure from 4.5" for the king & queens to 2" for the pawns
    Are they from Thailand?
    What are the figures; Gods? Monsters/myths?
    Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    Looks like Balinese right, Debora?
    rink28; they're hand painted (see gold trim at base of pic 2, over lapped bottom - pic 3) so you can't tell what kind of wood, but they are light - maybe balsa?
