I found this at a thrift store today. It cost $100 but when I googled 'life size carved African statue sculpture I saw ones with $799 asking price so I bought it.
Now I could use some help telling me what I have! (1st photo was taken inside o you can see it next to a mannequin for idea how big this thing is!)
    What country is it from?
How old is it? (it has a couple of very old looking slot screws in the base -see 2nd from last photo )
Is it a tribal piece or just décor to sell to tourists? (It would be difficult/expensive to check a 6' 8" statue on a plane, right?
Any info or thoughts on it would be greatly appreciated (like was it a good deal?!)
    Thanks

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Well, you're NOT going to hide it in your back pocket, I'll say that much!! That's a lot of time to carve something that size just for a tourist item!!! Do they bring decent money, even when a 'tourist item'???
