I bought this woodcut probably 8 years ago or more and have never been able to figure out the anything about it except I believe it to be a tiki head and know it is a woodcut because it says so. It is on poster board, not framed. 522D2DC4-A7B5-4616-B1B4-B8EAF93E740E.jpeg 092A835A-7A00-484B-8EEF-7A869BDF0E09_1_201_a.jpeg 8B68C34B-7A80-4C8D-B2F1-961EC2EDCE18_1_201_a.jpeg 3D4F2903-A8B0-4AF0-A035-D77DF94B9BD0_1_201_a.jpeg

Think you're going to find that's Cambodian. (By way, Tikis are Polynesian gods. Yours is Buddha. Buddhism is Cambodia's state religion.)

Angkor Wat, Cambodia, Buddha face partly covered by tree root:

I don't think we have any Khmer readers at the moment.

Indonesian (a modern language) is written in Latin script, but some older Indonesian languages are written in their own specific scripts, like Kawi for Javanese, for instance.
Indonesia doesn't have Tikis either btw.;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Ooo, I like it! Funny that "Woodcut" is in English and the rest is not.

The people on this site never fail to amaze me! Thank you for the photos as well as identifying the language. I would never have thought that it was Buddha instead of a tiki head. I hope there is a Cambodian expert online for the name. Thank you! I have just emailed a Cambodian artist and a Cambodian newspaper asking for help. Maybe they will respond. Thanks. I'll let you know.

That is funny, as the artist's name and title are so much more important.

An artist from Cambodia said she thought the language was Thai.
