    Hi,
    This is kind of odd to me. It tests over the quartz range on the presidium. I thought for sure it would beep like I was touching metal and it did not. Petrified something??

    Real hematite would have iron in it and react to a magnet. It looks like a metorite chunk, and would explain why someone set it in a ring.

    Meteorites are often mostly iron too. Some stick to magnets and IIRC some don't. So...fits.

    Natural hematite is not magnetic.
