    Dear All,

It has been sometime since I came here. Recently I came across a picture in one thrift shop which for me appeared to be either a watercolor or some early lithograph of some sort. But I am not sure. It was in a very difficult place to look at it closely and I could only manage to take a couple of photos drawing as near as possible. I have attached them here. Any ideas on its origin? Also the mark or stamp on it ?
    I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance !

Apologies. The above site covers Japanese woodblocks only. As yours is Chinese, it won't be helpful. But, if you haven't done so already, you can use Google Translate to decipher the inscription.

Thanks Debora. I was also wondering about the red mark or stamp on the left below the insciptions. I am trying to search if there is any online data source for such Chinese marks similar to what we have for silver marks.

Out of curiosity, why are you so sure it is Chinese and not Japanese?

I ran it through Google Translate and it was identified as Chinese.

That would be the artist's chop mark. I am unaware of a database.

Thanks Debora. Reverse image search took me to some Chinese site which shows an identical picture by the name Zhao Zhiqian . It has underneath it " Zhao Zhiqian's flower album--narcissus, wintersweet, camellia page". I am trying to search more about it.
    Thanks!

Just as an update to sort of complete the story, yesterday I went back to the thrift shop and this time the picture was accessible and hence could take it by my hand to see it closely. As stated earlier the "picture" is by Zhao Zhiqian (or attributed to him) . However it turned out to be a photomechanical reproduction of some sort from sometime in the last century. The dot patterns could actually be seen when inspected closely, and on the back it had also a stamp of a well known shop who distributed such decorative repro prints in yester years. There was also another similar framed picture behind it, also a repro print.

    Thanks for the help anyway.
