My husband is a locksmith. There are still Corbin locks around today. That doesn't mean he made the trunk - only that a Corbin lock was installed on it.

My son picked up a trunk like this at a thrift. He uses it to store stuff out in his workshop. It also has initials. When folks traveled, they had their initials on the trunk. Kids going to summer camp would travel with trunks like these and their initials were on it. This was true right up through the 70s down here on Cape Cod. Kids would arrive for camp and my husband used to get paid to go to the depot in Hyannis and pick up their trunks and deliver them to Lake Farm Camp.

Unless it's an exceptional trunk, they're basically giveaways.
