    I was commenting on Holly's identification as "Romulus and Remus" - who as we all know (I hope) were boys!

    They're the sort of thing Claude Michel (Clodion) did so much of in the 18th century: putti engaged in various activities, in this case, hunting.

    I could find many statuettes with some similarity, but did not succeed in finding a match.

    No, no. Sorry if I was not clear. They are similar to a favorite genre of Claude Michel's, but I could not find any evidence that this pair are actually by him. Clodion, as he signed his work, is regarded as working in the Rococo style. My thought was perhaps the artist was one of his contemporaries.
