Any guesses on age and origin of this fireplace tool set? TYIA

Hi, This is very heavy and I thought iron would be what the metal was but the underneath color makes me feel differently (don't know why). It magnetizes but the head does not. I do not think it is antique because of the screw (shown in a pic) that is inside one of the tools which I am not sure what it's used for. The bolt on the bottom was my second clue as to it not being too old. Someone painted it gold with a spray can from what I can tell. I tried looking this up but could not find one that matched or that was similar. Any help and opinions are very much welcomed. Thank you in advance.

 

The screw is to fit an exchangeable wood and bristle brush head for a hearth brush.
The whole thing is probably mid 20thC. After that people generally stopped having fireplaces.
The exchangable brush heads have probably died out with the sort of hardware shop that sold them.

 

I could see this being 1920s-30s,but that gold paint is hideous!

 

More likely 50s, here. Would have been black, to emulate wrought iron.

 

I agree on the paint. I don’t know what they were thinking other than they obviously used this ornamentally only.
