I found this at a local thrift store yesterday & when I looked up antique brass, copper stein I saw they are listed for $100 or more - so I took a chance.
Do I have a antique stein?
    Idea of age/period?
    Is it brass or copper?
As always I thank you guys & I appreciate the help with this.

Its brass and copper from the look of things. Screams mid-century to me. Hardware just doesn't look to be of the antique variety. I could be wrong as steins aren't my thing.

I doubt it is older than the '60s

The uncomfortable handle is probably decor

Agree. That handle looks 60's or later.

  6. What I noticed about the way it was constructed: Handle is cast in a low melting point metal. The handle and lid are soldered on. Bottom is crimped on. The main part is made by spinning, not hammering, leading me to believe that it is fairly modern. I like it, although you couldn't pay me enough to drink out of it!

Many metal objects have been made by spinning for more than 100 years.

True, spinning goes back far more than a century, but I agree with Iowa and Co.: mid-20th century. I'm getting a 70s vibe, since that decade marked the rebirth of interest in breweriana, at least in the U.S. Lots of copper, for sure.
