Bought this cat today. I thought it might be old because it's crazed and there is just a small vent hole on the back. (Those things on the bottom are felt pads.) Any thoughts on age and authenticity? No marks.

Agree. Certainly not antique. Certainly not Staffordshire. Seems to be a copy of these but, as so many copies of Staffordshire about, not even sure if these are genuine.

There's lots of information on internet about how to identify Staffordshire reproductions and fakes. And, by way, the rubylane link leads to what appears to be a modern piece too.

Many of the repros are actually made in Staffordshire still. Always were. I agree this is newish, the base and clay are all wrong. And the painting far too considered.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Side by side comparison, interesting.....to me not a whole lot of differences, but then I'm NOT ANY EXPERT on these !!!!!! Although the image on the right looks more like the doubles that Debora posted, if they're correct!! Also, I believe the ones Debora posted above I found on ebay:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-8-1-4...ain-Hollow-Cat-Figurines-Lovely-/232774198603
and they are wide open on the bottom.....don't know what that means, but no small hole!!!! NICE price too!!!! That's all I've got!!!
