This framed piece has some issues, but I think someone will still have to have it.

Am I correct calling these dogs English Bulldogs?

Also any ideas what to call these cards? I don't think postcards.

They look like postcards. I'd open the frame and look at the back of the cards.

Googling, I do not see postcards. I see blotters and calendars. It may have originated from other similar postcard sized items.

    They are cute.

Robert Livingston Dickey you mean? They certainly appear to be postcards. A good suggestion to open up frame and take a look at backs.

Thanks. Yes, same person. He signed these "Rob Dickey".

This whole thing is held together just barely. I'm hesitant to open anything up less it not go back together.

Maybe they are postcards. The size seemed a bit off, but maybe that is due to the mat. They also reminded me of old advertising cards, but truly we'd have to see the backs to know that.

I'm Ebaying this "AS IS" with the few issues. But I think it will sell as it's kind of a cool looking piece for a dog lover even if a bit rough around the edges.

    Last question, "English Bulldog" correct?

Yes, for the first, the last may be a mastiff (large!), and the last little fellow is probably a Boston bull terrier.

Love the art, by the way. Reminds me of an old tryptych owned by my grandparents - fox hunting scenes, one of which was an elderly gentleman by himself and from the rear. Looked like my grandfather. :)

I believe his signature is actually Robt L. Dickey.

Thank you, helpful to have these breed names!

There is an "L" in there. Thanks. :)

I guess Robert L. Dickey did a lot of (dog) cover illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post.
