Antique Purple Glass Earrings?

This is an old pair of purple glass earrings I recently purchased. They are about 2" in length not including the hooks and about 3/4" in width. The hooks look like they are not original to the earrings. There are no maker marks that I can find on the earrings.

I was wondering if anyone new the time period they would have been made, where they were made and perhaps who might made them.

    Thanks!

There was a company called 1928 that made a lot of this style jewelry , maybe check there .

I think these are the real deal, and with replaced ear-wires as was suggested. I don't know the style or period but they seem to have the quality of an older (possibly Victorian) set.

It is always hard to tell from photos and without having them in the hand, but they look very, very interesting to me. Maybe Czech or French?

Hopefully others will comment. They are gorgeous.

The ear wires are new. I figure them for Padiddly Links or Sadie Rose or something similar. They want to be really old, but the design feels off somehow. I think it's the finish trying to look old but also looking totally even. Companies in the last 20 years have been making recreations of things "they didn't make but should have" in the 1930s. Odds are this is one of those pairs.

Its an odd style, but what made me think older was the detailing on the back of the setting of the purple stone.

What I can't tell is how substantial they feel in the hand. They are an interesting pair.

    I'm with Lucille.
I think the brass and purple triangular glass pieces are older European.
Most likely pieces from a broken necklace that someone has put ear wires on.

The only thing that bothers me, I have never seen old glass in the druzy configuration like that. And on looking closer, it appears the glass pieces are smaller than the rectangle they sit in. So maybe those have been replaced.

Factory reject/bad quality control? The "shield" shaped stones appear to have been mounted backwards and the "detailed" back of the setting should be facing to the front. The fake amethyst crystals look like they are chemical coated like "mystic topaz" in the photo. If they are coated the piece was probably made after 1980.

Things look clearer after a glass of good port.

Clutteredcloset, "pieces from a broken necklace" like the danglers off it perhaps like off a necklace with them like this one I have? I didn't think about that but perhaps you're right.

    Really ? :confused::confused:
I say they are mounted just fine as the the crown and table are and should be on the top.

I doubt either of your diamond rings is mounted upside down !!! ;)

The crown and table are facing the bottom of the setting.

Thanks for all the analysis, suggestions, possibilities and replies everyone. I realize it can sometimes be difficult to tell things without a hands on evaluation of an item. Just a little more info, the only thing magnetic on the earrings is the hooks. Here's some more close up images.

    Kevin -
Thank you for posting the added pictures. It clarifies what Holly was saying.

Druzy is a term used for the crystal formation. However in this case they may be glass instead of crystal. Can't tell from pictures

Love them! Look to me like early 20th century brass and glass :shame:

but not the way they are placed on the earrings.
I'll concede that at some point...someone may have reversed them in the setting...or reversed the setting so the scrolling on the metal now ended up backwards.....or both ???
