Hi, can anyone help me with this painting identification. It is unsigned. The frame itself is 46 x 33 inches, so the painting is fairly large. It is a landscape with some cattle in a beautiful gold gilt frame. I'm going to guess that it is a 19th century British/European school painting. Anyone else have any ideas. I really am not an expert with paintings.

Thanks. So you would lean more towards it being American vs. British? I was thinking Hudson River as well. Would this have value over a few hundred, being of large size and of 19th century, likely?

Really, I have no idea as to value. But it's a very attractive painting, in a very attractive frame. Sure to find a market (if that's your intention.)

Thank you Debora. Yes, I do believe I will be able to find some market for it. Thanks for all of your help.

A look at the back might help us determine more.

I will post that later this week. I have this in storage and don't have photos of the back right now.

Very nice painting. Could we also see some more close ups?

    +1!
And taking it down from the frame, if possible might help as well.
Some times signatures are hidden by the frame.

It looks like a cheap and nasty Chinese frame. More photos are needed of the painting -- including of the back, the canvas, the tacks, the frame ...

May I ask why you say it looks like a cheap and nasty Chinese frame?

I'm going to have to disagree on the frame. There is another one similar with another similar style painting that I have from the same home, and it clearly has acanthus flowers and leaves in the middle of it, and the larger leaf and berry design around. There is also a flower bud leaf over leaf design in the second inner frame of the frame (sorry don't know what to call it) that I have seen in other period frames. It would have to be a pretty good reproduction, but I'll have to check the back etc a little more later this week.

    Hi Kellaurm,
i agree with the frame not being Chinese. I have several using a lot of the details on yours and I know for a fact that they are 18th and 19th century.

No need to apologize for being kind, I thought it was a very nice gesture.:) And I'm sure kellaurm felt even more welcome than she already was, especially being welcomed by such an adorable little puppy.;)

One should never have to apologize for being kind.
