Any idea on how much these antique mirrors are worth?[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Considering the condition, probably not very much.

It is expensive to get mirrors re-silvered.

The top one that is worn I'de take to a glass cutting business and have them cut me the best condition part of it out and then build a nice frame for it.

    Brother, am I happy you're wearing clothes....:hilarious:

The framed one , maybe $125,,,,the others, I doubt have any more value than a new one, if that.

One of the reasons that "distressed look" was so popular was because the items costs so little compared to new, run of the mill stuff................so they have minimal value as decorator items, very little value as mirrors...............

Well, I searched and see it is true some people like the "distressed" look so much they use muriatic acid to destroy new mirrors, if they can't afford a real antique mirror. :joyful:

I did find links in Google images to half a dozen or so distressed antique mirrors in the UK, but they were all marked "SOLD", so I still have no idea what they go for.

All I can find on eBay in sold items are mirrors with distressed frames, but nice mirrors.

The beveled mirrors are quite expensive to have made !! Easy fix if you have a frame is to use any gel stripper for furniture and remove the old silvering from the back !! Clean well !! Then have an inexpensive 1/8 inch mirror cut to same size and put it behind the beveled glass and re-install in frame !! Will look like a new mirror !! Value would depend on size !!

I think he wants to sell "as is" to the distressed market.

But that is a good tip for those who want to restore!

Most of them are already beveled I was thinking about maybe framing them but not really sure how..

Yes laura I was more looking to sell them as is to the distressed market but actually getting someone to put a price on them is proving quite difficult.

Some people like old mirrors with the silvering like that.....I personally like it in old mirrors as long as the frames are nice and original.

True,, there are some who do like the distressed look and some who like the distressing to be on the frame and not on the mirror itself !!
Determining a value is difficult,, you can not outguess the buying public !!
An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it !!

    Hi,
I use straight bleach to strip off silvering from mirrors. I have several nice beveled mirrors that were really distressed. A few wipes with bleach and then window cleaner. I have also placed 1/8th" new mirrors behind the stripped ones. I had one convex mirror that was in horrible shape. Found a perfect match at a truck replacement site. No one ever knew the mirror was a replacement..

Have never tried bleach,, good to know !! That is a common thing done especially if you are restoring old furniture that has a mirror !!

These need frames to have value. If you take the time and $$ to frame them, you may have lost your profit margin. Here in semi-rural Midwest we sell framed distressed mirrors in the $30-80.00 range with most on the lower end. More ornate framed ones can bring the better money. The customers here prefer the mirrors to be good or at least useable without too much blemishing. The framed one is reasonably nice but is the mirror a replacement? Also, I see that it is a door so it might be more useful as a front for a new cabinet.
