I was out looking for some frames to use for some old photographs I have and was a couple hundred miles from home. Found a shop full of so much stuff it makes your eyes wobble ala walmart. Most of it overpriced but the frames were cheap. Anyway, I saw this and thought I better buy it for two bucks. Anyway, hoping someone with more experience and expertise than I have can help with identifying - if known - the artist, possible age of the piece, and the type of work. Thanks :)

Did it come in a frame? If so, could/would you post a photograph?

Did you do a Google Image search to see if you come up with a match? Is there a species printed somewhere that would help in a search? Walter Hood Fitch was an illustrator of lilies. Have you done a search of his work?

Hi Deborah, I just assumed the name on the back was the artist name with the details for the piece. I did not dismount is from the matt however though it is just a very thin bit that is covered over by the matt. It looks like pastels under 10x with no indications of pixelation, but this is not my forte'

Anyway, here is the framed image (had a very tanned and brittle paper back on it that I had to remove)

The name on the back (Lewis) is the client for whom the piece was framed.

Here's more information on the piece. It may well be an original. You'll only know what you have if you open the frame up.

Either way, that matt needs to go. It's high acid, and acid eats paper.

Wait... You don't know if it's a copy or not. I suggest -- again -- that you open it up carefully and see what you've got. To my eye, it looks like it could well be original.

I worded poorly and should just have said print.
