I have an antique piece of furniture, which is worth a lot more because of the label. It had a label on the back that was adhered with a glue of some kind at one time but it fell off. I'm now thinking of selling the item but am wondering if there is a good way to reapply the label, such as using a basic glue stick? Or is it just not a good idea to try to reapply the label in some way as it might damage the integrity of the piece? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice.

I would re-adhere it. I don't think a glue stick is strong enough. I would use a basic wood glue. Use a thin layer so as not to get the label too sloppy. It may have been adhered with hide glue or similar originally but I don't think it matters all that much what you use to reattach it. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before attaching and place the label in the exact spot it was originally if you can tell where that is.

This is just my opinion but others might think otherwise. I suppose that I might think otherwise if this were in a museum collection. I can't imagine where else it would matter all that much. If you are concerned about this, you could always place the label in a plastic sleeve and convey it to the new owner when sold.
