Might be brass, still works about 4 feet tall and very heavy.

Welcome, Donna. A couple suggestions - first, would you please edit your post to make the picture "Full Image" instead of "Thumbnail." Second, pictures of the whole lamp, the cord and plug would be very important in understanding your lamp. :)

    Welcome to the Forum, Donna!
Probably too late to edit, so use full size option in your remaining photos. :)

Welcome Donna! I don't know about your lamp but full photos would probably help someone. Those type shades are available new if you search for flame or stalactite shades but I don't know if they are from old designs.

This is a reproduction. Made from standard parts that are still readily available.

Ok everybody now any ideas? It separates into different sections via a metal rod down the center through the base.

Donna, we asked for a picture of the whole lamp - meaning from base to top, in case that wasn't clear enough. I think Brad is probably right, but seeing the whole thing is still important. The "better picture" still only shows the top.

I see @Donna Wylie got her answer on this, but I was wondering, @verybrad - what would you call this style and era if it was original?

    Bay 90s comes to mind

4 feet sounds kind of an odd height.
